ContentCompass™ Module

The optional Atlas ContentCompass™ Module serves as the central location for the management of taxonomy and meta data functions in Workcenter and on Websites. Here, taxonomy fields may be defined, categorized and associated with various content types throughout the system. Each field created appears in the Meta Info tab of associated content types; and users enter values relative to the fields available (e.g., Copyright Year: 2005, Author: May Smith, etc.). Taxonomy values can then be used in conjunction with the Site Manager, certain function tags, and with both internal and site-based search functions, for the retrieval and display of content.

ContentCompass-specific search functions are also available through the coordination of the ContentCompass Module and its extremely versatile function tags, including ContentCompass Search and ContentCompass Search Results. Working together, they allow users to offer content searches (articles, pages, etc.) via any combination of ContentCompass fields associated with a content item. Results can then be sorted by values in ContentCompass fields associated with those results.

Taxonomies are systems of organization, used for the "classification " or "categorization" of information. Each refers to the organization of similar objects into broad "categories" or "topics" which themselves can be grouped together in ever-wider "hierarchies."
